Enough of this Hypocritical Game -Boyo SDO Slams Boyo Elite Did You contribute in laying or Drinking of the egg?-Mbuh Alice. We will Keep his “Making Belo Great Again” Legacy…Ngu Victor Chung
Encomiums have poured out in memory of Dr Ngong Innocent, deceased Mayor of Belo. Administrative and political alongside Family, friends, loved ones all referred to the latter as a true reflection of a developer who will stop at nothing to make his municipality a better one. This was during an official funeral service to bid farewell and a gentle repose of his soul, 27th July in Yaounde. From June 12th 1978, to May 20th 2024,this is the story of Dr Ngong Innocent Ankiambom.
A life from grassroot tussles for survival in his native Belo municipality to the heights of a benefactor of the Commonwealth scholarship in Britain, holder of a PHD in molecular Biology Yaounde 1 University, to first ever CPDM mayor of Belo is a summary of the man that lies in a coffee brown adorned casket.
Murdered in cold blood through gunshot by a targeted attack on May 20th, Cameroon’s national day, his death has drawn strong condemnation within the administrative ranks of the division and nation. The chief administrative authority of Boyo Division slammed sons of Belo in what he says “enough is enough in this useless game you all are playing. You cannot act like you don’t know the act was perpetrated by your own sons. Belo has been away from development driven activities and a man who struggles to revive it is killed” Saidou Moussa said. He lamented the constant attacks on security forces that has also resulted in the shutting down of schools and other facilities. To him the solution lies in the population partnering with security forces and counselling the pro-separatists to drop their arms and regain the DDR centers.

According to Mbuh Alice interim mayor of Belo the death underscores the need for sons and daughters of the municipality to desist from self-destruction and chronic hate to becoming real actors and champions of meaningful development.
Hear her: ” We are all trapped in this dilemma. It’s so shameful and painful how someone somewhere may think that the exit of this earth worker shall lead to their rising. We only rise by lifting others, any other means is a mere misconception.
Dear Mourners, Innocent in his innocence has come to the end of his road but the question is, Did you contribute to the laying of the egg or the drinking?”. She added “Remember a hen that drinks its eggs should not send the chicks of her neighbour to fetch her water during days of her thirst. Belo can be great again, we just need to be right-minded, bury our differences and seek our huge potentials. The world is after men who seek to build and we can be better”, she concluded.
Mayor Ngong was killed alongside Dr Aghi Aaron and he was en route to receive the D.O of Belo at the grandstand. According to Mayor Ngu Victor Chung , 2nd deputy mayor, the death remains a painful one to bear. “I can’t believe we are talking about my boss in the past. I He was man whose talk on a daily basis was how best to place Belo on the map. He championed numerous advocacies to improve his community and this is an attribute we can never forget. We will try as much as possible to keep his legacy of making Belo Great Again Alive”, Victor concluded.

Tongues have continued to wag on the real identity of the killers with many speculating a political set up. It remains unknown the identity of his assassins, with many waiting on investigation carried out by security and defence forces.
Meanwhile, the President of the United Councils and Cities of Cameroon (UCCC) North West chapter, Mayor Denis Awoh Ndang, has called on the powers that be to increase the number of security personnel in the red zones across the region.
Mayor Ndang noted that Mayors have come under increased attacks since the start of 2024 with the Deputy Mayors of Babessi and Balikumbat mercilessly murdered in cold blood then the brutal assassination of Mayor Ngong Innocent of Belo.
Since the demise of the Mayor of Belo, the Mayor of Zhoa’s convoy came under heavy attack from gunmen. The Mayor of Fundong also suffered from an assassination attempt.
Mayor Ndang believes if the security personnel deployed to these areas are in their numbers, it will readily curb the presence of the separatist fighters. “We also have to think of the military, occupying some of the villages where the activities of these fighters are also high and why not the creation of Gendarmerie brigades in these places so that the fighters will not have a free way. It is very important that the places they occupy are occupied by the regular forces,” Mayor Denis Awoh Ndang said.
He used the opportunity to remind the population that they as Mayors are only servants who want to make life better for the population and nothing else. He called on people of the region to do everything to protect those who bring development. “This is a Mayor who did everything to bring development to his people. He will not sleep till projects are allocated to his area. The same development we have been crying about and yet he is targeted and killed. We need a rethink.” Mayor Ndang said.
Quizzed if Municipal authorities should be provided with extra security to accompany them, Mayor Ndang said: “We need the security around our municipalities. Mayor Ngong was killed in the midst of at least two security officers. So giving us bodyguards is not the issue. It is ensuring the effective presence of the military where it matters most.”
