The Ekemba 1 quarter Football Club Fiango ,Kumba 11 subdivision, have emerged champions of the 4th edition of the Kumba 11 Football Competition, organised by the Kumba 11 Council.
The Ekemba 1 quarter FC emerged winners in the competition on Sunday 4th August 2024, after beating Hausa Quarter FC by two goals to nothing.
The competition, we observed, kick-started on Sunday 15th July with six teams in the race.
Launching the competition that Sunday July 15, the Mayor of the Kumba 11Council, Chief Mbatchu Jacob Kay, stated the competition is meant to keep the youths busy during the summer Holidays and enable same to desist from drug consumption, crime and other criminal activities.
He further stated that the competition is meant to encourage peaceful coexistence and living together in a one and indivisible Cameroon.
Ekemba 1 quarter FC grabbed the sum of two hundred thousand frs (200000frs) ; while Hausa Quarter FC went home with one hundred and fifty thousand ( 150000frs). There were also consolatory prices.
The Mayor of the Kumba 11 Council also took advantage of the end of the competition, to distribute books, school bags, pencils, pens, rulers to secondary and primary school children who took part in a marathon race . He also urged the denizens of his municipality to enroll on the electoral list for future elections.
Speaking later to the press, Chief Mbatchu Jacob Kay described himself as a happy man, especially given the competition went on hitch-free. He further appealed to the roots to be hard working, remain focused, help their parents and to desist from drug consumption and other criminal activities.
All the matches took place at the Presbyterian Primary school playground in Fiango.
