The Konye Subdivisional Council, Konye, Meme Division,Southwest Region of Cameroon, has scored first place in the execution of Public Investment Projects in Meme Division, The Horizon has been informed.
The Senior Divisional Officer of Meme, Ntou’ou Ndong Chamberlain, made this declaration on the occasion of the Divisional Participatory Follow up Meeting of Public Investment Projects, PIP, for Meme.
After welcoming the Mayors and the Delegate of MINEPAT, who is the main supervisor of Public projects in Meme, Ntou’ou Ndong Chamberlain stated that the Konye Council scored 77. 25 % in the execution of Public Investment Projects, thereby scoring first position in the division. This was followed in descending order by The Mbonge Council, Kumba 1 Council, Kumba 11 Council, and the Kumba 111 Council.
The SDO then went ahead to appeal to other Councils to emulate the example of Konye Council, and to speed up the execution of PIP in their municipalities for the good of the population.
He further advised the vote holders to award contracts to competent contractors, who would not abandon the contracts.
Some persons say emerging first position in the execution of PIP in Meme is good news for the Konye Council, especially to the Mayor Dr Barrister Musima George Lobe, who has recently been accused of owing his staff sixteen (16) months of unpaid salaries. The allegation the mayor denied.
The Horizon also notes the Mbonge Council has topped the list for several years for being first in the execution of Public Investment Projects in Meme.
We have been unable to establish whether all the councils are always allocated the same quota of PIP.
We also note that Divisional Participatory Follow up Meeting of Public Investment Projects in Meme is Midway.
We also observed that the meeting was also attended by Divisional and Sub Divisional heads of deconcentrated allied Government services .
The meeting held on Wednesday 7th August.
