Pinorish Foundation, a non-governmental organization based in Buea, has donated some didactic materials to some vulnerable children in Buea.

This donation which took place on Tuesday August 13, 2024, in Buea, comes a few weeks ahead of school reopening nationwide.

The didactic materials donated to the vulnerable children ( IDPS and Orphans ) comprised of school bags, pens, pencils, erasers, exercise books and other items necessary for a effective back-to- school.

According to the Founder of Pinorish Foundation, Grace Baya, the selection process of beneficiaries was carried out indiscriminately with main focus on the needy.

“Today we are doing a back-to-school event and we focused on every child in the community.

We don’t pick tribe, we don’t care where you are coming from. As long as you’re a child you have the right to come here and collect your books. We have some school bags. You will see some bags have complete textbooks. We normally go for field work and pick those who are really suffering and get their entire school resources”, she said.

This year’s donation exercise was peculiar as it was extended to the donation of regulated and acceptable text books of Mathematics, English, French and work books.

“ What we did was we contacted Presbook and we asked them for the books that are going for this year so they gave us the list and now because we deal with IDPs and children who are suffering I don’t class a child that is going to a private school as a child that is suffering. I class a child that is going to a Government school that they’re only paying 2000 for PTA. If you can pay

30,000fcfa for your child to go to a Private School it means that child is not suffering because that 30,000Fcfa, can buy the entire books and bags. It can also pay for their PTA and can buy their uniform, shoes, everything. So when we do the field work we select children that go to Government schools. That helps us to deal only with Government school Textbooks because I heard that some private schools have different textbooks”, she explained.

Irene Praise, a class four pupil in Buea, after receiving the didactic materials extended words of gratitude to the donor while praying for God’s continuous blessings upon them.

“ I want to thank Pinorish for books and bag. I want to thank them for everything they have been doing for us, they will never lack in Jesus name, she noted.

Mencheng Evette, a mother of seven, for her part, shared her feelings regarding the donation exercise.

“ I have seven children and I am not able to send all of them to school. Then my junior sister ran away from the house and allowed me with her child so I now have eight children under my care. I don’t have anything doing so I am just managing with little farming jobs. The load that I have is more than me and I can not do it alone. These books and bags will help me a lot to send my children to school for bright futures tomorrow. God should help the donors by

providing for them more and more so that they continue to support us who don’t have”, she reiterated.

After this the children are expected to use the didactic materials donated to them judiciously.

Pinorish Foundation is a non-governmental organization created in the year 2017, due the Socio Political and Economic crisis plaguing the South West Region, which has left many homeless, internally displaced, amongst others.
