Over Forty (40) million FCFA was raised at a Grand Fundraising staged by the Nchaney Area Cultural and Development Association, NACUDA, on Saturday, 10th August 2024 at the Chambers of Agriculture in Yaounde. The event under the distinguished Patronage and Chairmanship of H.E Pr. Fuh Calistus Gentry was graced by the presence of some members of government and his friends who donated generously towards supporting the association’s development projects and internally displaced persons from this clan especially widows and orphans.
Top national dignitaries present at the event included H.E Mbayu Felix, Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of relations with the Commonwealth; Dr. Enow Abrams Egbe, President of ELECAM, and pioneer Sub Prefect for Misaje Sub Division; Fon Chafah XI Isaac, Member of the Senate Bureau; Mr Yerima Peter, Secretary General of the North West Regional Council; Mr Abe Michael Ndra, Member of Parliament for the Ako-Misaje Special Constituency; and a host of other senior dignitaries.
In his welcome speech, the NACUDA National President, Mr Ngecha Joseph Endeley, saluted and expressed gratitude for the massive presence of the Nchaney people from every corner of this country and all those who came to support the association. He made mention of the objectives of the fundraising namely; to raise funds for the association’s development projects and to support the internally displaced persons from the clan. It was also an occasion for the association to showcase and valorise its institutions, namely, the NACUDA Central Reflection Council, the Samba dance group, the Choma dance group and the Misaje Nchaney Cooperative Credit Union, MINCCUL.
This fundraising was sponsored by the Misaje Nchaney Cooperative Credit Union, an institution of the association. It was therefore an occasion for the credit union to sensitise and inform the general public of the numerous economic and development opportunities and tools it offers, get more members and shareholders and to encourage people to save regularly and borrow wisely.
For information purposes, the NACUDA national president located the Nchaney Clan on the national map as a clan which represents 5 of the 12 villages that make up Misaje Sub Division in the Donga Mantung Division of the North West Region of Cameroon. These villages are: Nkanchi, Chunghe, Bem, Kibbo and Nfume. He described the Nchaney people as a patriotic, peace- loving and law-abiding people. The president also made it clear that Misaje Sub Division is one of the few Sub Divisions in the restive Anglophone regions in Cameroon with no separatist base nor any allegiance to the separatist agenda since the start of this crisis in 2016. To him, this is thanks to the fact that Misaje people listened and respected the call for reason, unity and patriotism echoed by the government under the distinguished leadership of H.E president Paul Biya, the same message which his servant and loyal collaborator, our own illustrious son, Pr. Fuh Calistus Gentry, Interim Minister of Mines, Industries and Technological Development, duly transmitted to our people with the required material, logistical and financial support to enable them to stand against the enemies of the nation. He also said this relative calm and stability in Misaje Sub Division was also thanks to the efforts of the traditional rulers and the resilient, peace loving and patriotic people of Misaje Sub Division as a whole. The Nchaney clan in particular have stood and continue to stand their grounds and have vowed to defend the territorial integrity of the country and the one and indivisible Cameroon. The NACUDA national president further made it clear that since this crisis affects everyone in one way or the other, there is the urgent need for a return to peace and stability.
Consequently, he said that NACUDA appreciates and encourages government’s commitment and determination to ensure a return to peace and stability in these two Anglophone regions so that our internally displaced can have an opportunity to return back to our villages. In conclusion, the NACUDA National President made it clear that though the association is apolitical, the Nchaney people do encourage the politics of development incarnated by H.E President Paul Biya for which our clan and our Sub Division is a major beneficiary and Eldorado of development. This to him is translated through the hardwork and loyalty of our illustrious son H.E Pr. Fuh Calistus Gentry to the new deal government.
In his final words the NACUDA national president said:“Our association also want to cease this opportunity to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to His Excellency President Paul Biya for the confidence bestowed on our illustrious son Pr, Fuh Calistus Gentry by making him the Interim Minister of Mines, Industries and Technological Development. We continue praying and hoping that the President of the Republic shall make this blessing to be permanent in our lives. Your Excellency, on behalf of the entire Nchaney Community, do extend to His Excellency President Paul Biya, our total and unconditional support to the ideologies and vision of the New Deal Government”
Taking the floor, the President of ELECAM and pioneer Sub Divisional officer for Misaje expressed gratitude to the Misaje people for the support they gave him as First D.O of the place and for their patriotism and continuous support for the unity and indivisibility of this country. He made it clear that at the heat of the opposition in the early nineties, only Misaje Sub Division in the entire North West region was CPDM and have continued to stand by the new deal government till today. He encouraged the Misaje people to rally behind their son, Pr. Fuh Calistus Gentry, interim Minister of Mines Industries and Technological Development, a loyal and committed servant of this nation and to continue standing for peace, unity and the one and indivisible Cameroon.
The Patron of NACUDA, Minister Pr. Fuh Calistus Gentry, for his part, thanked all those who came in person and those who sent their financial support to assist the Nchaney people in their development drive and to assist the internally displaced persons especially the widows and orphans as a result of this crisis. He also thanked the Misaje people as a whole and the Nchaney people in particular for standing for a one and indivisible Cameron and for listening to the message of our unity in diversity as a nation echoed by H.E President Paul Biya. Proof of this is the fact that Misaje Sub Division has not harboured a separatist base nor shown any allegiance to any separatist agenda since the start of this crisis in 2016. The minister encouraged the Misaje people to continue working to maintain the relative peace and stability that reigns in that Sub Division.
Talking about the objectives of the NACUDA fundraising, the minister said, the Nchaney gathered to raise funds to enhance development back home and to support their internally displaced persons especially widows and orphans. To the Minister, the emphasis on this internally displaced persons especially the children shall focus on the school resumption issues, scholarships to and support in terms of didactic materials to all the schools in the Nchaney area. For the widows, it shall be more of improving or ameliorating their living coordinations and encouraging them to get into small-scale businesses to ensure their daily needs. Consequently, he called on all those who came to support this Nchaney initiative to know that it was more of touching and saving lives which is such an honorable task.
