While Fecafoot has designated the Japoma Stadium in Douala to host the Cameroon-Namibia match on September 7, Marc Brys has reportedly expressed his preference for the Omnisports Stadium in Yaoundé.
The Indomitable Lions will resume competition in September, specifically on the 7th of the month. The match will be part of the first day of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. On the visual announcement of the match between the Indomitable Lions and Namibia on September 7, the governing body of Cameroonian football chose the Japoma Stadium to host the encounter. A choice that the Cameroon coach does not seem to appreciate. Marc Brys would rather have this match take place at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé.
Indeed, the Belgian coach swears by the Ahmadou Ahidjo arena in Yaoundé, where he had a successful debut last June. As if déjà vu, the two parties are heading towards a new power struggle unless there is a reversal, following the one that erupted during the last gathering in June.
In anticipation of a second scandal in three months, Fecafoot has sought to put the former Louvain coach back in line. “Obviously, the coach can propose a choice of facilities, but the federation decides based on its schedule and the needs of Cameroonians. Playing in all regions is essential for our national team,” defended a federal source who requested anonymity in comments relayed by CamerounWeb.
Then added: “The coach has a duty, which is to do the technical work assigned to him with the resources provided. He made a number of requests that were granted, with grandeur. But it is simpler for him to respect the working framework of others, as he insists on his own. The president of the federation is above him, whether he likes it or not. One of his roles is to ensure technical and financial means. The coach’s role is to select and coach his team.”
