Members of the Zion Family in the diaspora have donated some back-to -school materials to some school children in Kumba, Meme Division South West Region of Cameroon. Zion Family, headquartered in Kumba, with Mrs Manka’a Nicholine Amabo as founder, is an international interdenominational Christian organization, whose main objective is studying the Bible and praying together.
During the event that took place at the Presbyterian Youth Centre Fiango Kumba II Subdivision on Saturday 17th August 2024, the school children received school bags, exercise books, pens, pencils, pens, erasers, rulers, plates, pots.
Welcoming the Zion Family from the other parts of Cameroon, the Kumba chapter president, Ngankan Marie, stated that the Zion Family today with members all over the world started like a mustard seed.
He further reminded the attendees of the purpose of the Saturday meeting to hand over didactic materials from the diaspora to some school children in Kumba.
In his speech, the diasporan advisor, Mrs Mbehnteng Matilda, stated that members of the group out of the country are hustling to eke out a decent living but they are still devoted to God, adding that though they don’t have the opportunity of assembling together they pray online.
She further appealed to the recipients of the didactic materials that members of the Zion Family in the diaspora hold them very dear in their hearts.
Speaking later to this reporter, the founder of Zion Family, Manka’a Nicholine Amabo, explained that the group started in the Lent period of 2018, when the Anglophone crisis was at its peak, with just four members who regularly meet to pray and to study the Bible.
Manka’a Nicholine Amabo, fondly called Zion Mother by members of the group, further stated that in the course of their prayers and Bible studies, they came across Acts 4: 23 in which all the believers were united in heart and mind and shared everything thing they owned, adding that after coming across Acts 4, miracles started appearing in their midst and since then the group has never been the same as before again.
Earlier in a reflection from the book of Psalm 51, Mrs Mbehnteng Matilda, reminded members of group to always admit their sins to God and repent of same like David did when rebuked by the Prophet Nathan.
The diasporan book donation was attended by members of the group from all over the South West Region and beyond, notably Mrs Awutah from Yaounde.
