In order to encourage back to school the Cameroon Network of Women with Disabilities CANEWODI, has donated a consignment of didactic materials to over fifty school children in Meme Division Southwest Region of Cameroon. The NGO also donated over 30 sanitary pads to indigenous moslem girls in the division.
The event that took place at the Kumba Women Empowerment Centre was attended by other sister organizations and the parents of the children..
In her address, the president of CANEWODI, Toko Virginie, stated that the exercise meant for children whose parents are physically challenged is aimed at encouraging back to school, to mitigate the financial burden of the parents, given their physical status .
She also encouraged the children to study very hard, given that next time the donation would depend on merit.
Speaking at the end of the exercise to this reporter,Toko Virginie said the exercise in its third year is aimed assisting primary and secondary School children whose parents are physically challenged.. Indigenous moslem girls of school going age also received sanitary pads, she added.
The group also received support from the Mungu family in the United States of America. According to Toko Virginie, the exercise will continue as long as CANEWODI continues to receive support.
All the children also received bathing slippers.
