The head of the regional delegation for Central Africa of the International Committee for the Red Cross, ICRC, Stephane Bonamy, was received in an audience by the president of the Cameroon Human Rights Commission, James Mouangue Kobila.
ICRC known for its objectives of providing humanitarian assistance, protecting lives and relieving people from their suffering met with the CHRC to seek ways of intensifying their shared mission of civil liberties in Cameroon.
Stephane Bonamy told the press:“It was a long due meeting that I wanted to have with the president of the National commission of human rights. I think we share a common objective which is the protection of the dignity of human being and the dignity of civil population in a situation where the security is at stake. The discussion actually was about areas where we can find common ground in order to support that dignity. We are at the beginning of interesting
discussions that we shall have in the future.”
The head of delegation equally reiterated that their 2-hour constructive dialogue and those to come will hopefully produce best results. Moreover, he appreciated the work already done by the CHRC, adding to
their accreditation with A status at the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institution.
“The fact that I am meeting the president of Human Rights in Cameroon is already evidence that there is a concern that is taking into consideration. What I can say is that we have a dialogue about the obligations of every party. Each time there is a dialogue about obligations, it is a good thing because we can construct and build better respect. I appreciate the work the National
Human rights does.”
They shall therefore work hand in gloves.
