Declared a candidate for the 2025 presidential election, Akere Muna is already showcasing his ambitions. The lawyer and anti-corruption advocate has called for a fight for the soul of the nation.
In a message published last Monday, October 1st, the anniversary of Cameroon’s reunification, Akere Muna spoke about the mistakes made in the past. “Blood has been shed and the will and dreams of a people have been subverted,” he stated. Based on this bitter observation, the lawyer now calls for a battle for the benefit of the entire nation. “In 2025, we must be ready to fight for the soul of our nation”, concluded Muna.
Last weekend, the lawyer was declared the candidate of the Univers party, supported by a coalition of about twenty political parties, including the Union des Populations du Cameroun (UPC). The former executive of Transparency International dreams of succeeding President Paul Biya. His integrity and unifying qualities have worked in his favor according to several political actors. If elected, the lawyer will be expected to address the Anglophone crisis, as he himself hails from one of the crisis regions.
