(Business in Cameroon) – Tradex, the trading and exploitation company under Cameroon’s National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH), reported a net profit of CFA 14.7 billion in 2023. This marks the highest profit since the company was founded in 1999 and represents a doubling of profits over the past five years.
The company also recorded a 32% increase in revenue between 2019 and 2023, growing from CFA 291.3 billion to CFA 387.3 billion. Tradex attributes its financial growth to both the diversification of its activities and its expansion beyond the Cameroonian market.
Initially focused on trading and supplying fuel to aircraft and ships, Tradex branched out in 2006 into distributing refined petroleum products like gasoline, diesel, and kerosene. By 2013, the company entered the domestic gas market, boosting competition in Cameroon while strengthening its presence in neighboring markets such as the Central African Republic, Chad, and more recently, Equatorial Guinea.
In Jeune Afrique’s 2022 ranking of Africa’s top 500 companies, Tradex was listed as the 4th most successful company in Cameroon and ranked 226th on the continent, with an annual revenue of approximately CFA 350 billion.
