Komla Claude Nestor, Regional Inspector in charge of wood processing/Forestry for the South West Region, has been recognized with a medal in the rank of Commander of Academic honours. He was decorated with the medal by the Governor of the Southwest Region, Bernard Okalia Bilai,amongst his peers, during the celebration of the 31st Edition of World Teachers Day in Buea.
It was a beaming Komla Claude Nestor who shared his sentiments to the press following his recognition:
“ This is the Third Medal I am receiving from the Head of State at the rank of Commander so I am very proud to receive it. Infact it’s the achievement of the whole Life”, he said.
He was recognized in the presence of the Secretary General of the South West Governor’s Office, Acha Gilbert Nkwenti; the Regional Delegate of Basic Education, Elangwe Rose Bume, the Regional Delegate for Employment and Vocational Training, Orock Thomas, amongst others. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai, while acknowledging the important role teachers play in nationbuilding, called on the teachers to uphold the ethics of their profession.
For the just ended academic year, the South West Region emerged first in the First School Leaving Certificate Examination.
The celebration equally saw the recognition and award of certificates of Excellence to some primary schools and class six teachers, whose schools performed well in the First School Leaving Certificate Examination. Meanwhile, the Regional Delegate of Basic Education for the Southwest Region, Elangwe Rose Bume, urged the teachers to be committed in their work.
The ceremony wrapped up with Komla Claude Nestor, Regional Inspector of the Southwest Region, promising to remain committed to his work, so as to be decorated with more medals in the nearest future.
