Looking at the functioning of our country, everything seems to indicate that we are no longer a Republic. The structure of our country rather resembles that of the Catholic Church with the Holy See at the Presidency of the Republic and the dioceses scattered within the rest of the administrations throughout Cameroon.
It is sad to see that our institutions have practically become dioceses. The Presidency of the Republic is no different from the Vatican, also known as the Holy See, where the sovereign pontiff resides. Some sovereign pontiffs have not reigned as long as the Bishop of Etoudi, with 41 years of ‘priesthood’.
The most concerning is that the Bishop of Etoudi has even managed to appoint apostolic administrators in certain ministries, in defiance of the constitution. Out of 5 deceased ministers, oops I meant bishops, the sovereign pontiff did not deem it necessary to replace them with decrees but with intermediaries who are nothing more than apostolic administrators. Does the constitution provide for interim ministers? At the Ministry of Mines, we have an apostolic administrator, oops I meant an interim Minister.
This is what our country has become before our eyes. The country has been divided among a few people to the detriment of the vast majority. Each Bishop manages his territory and does what he wants, when he wants. What grave crime has the Cameroonian people committed to deserve such governance? How long will we endure this organizational and institutional drift?
Our country deserves better and it is time for every Cameroonian to take responsibility. 2025 is near, the Front des Démocrates Camerounais (FDC) calls for awareness. Let’s register on the electoral lists, collect our voter cards, and vote en masse in 2025 and 2026.
May God bless Cameroon.
