Besides being a former gifted footballer with a stunning track record obtained while playing in different football leagues both home and abroad, Indomitable Lions assistant Coach, Cyprian Ashu Besong, has for the past years equally demonstrated immoderate qualities in professional football coaching.
Known for his inordinate ability in mentoring young Cameroonians in football, the assistant coach of the Indomitable Lions proudly takes the credit for priming young Cameroonians who are now heroes of the Senior National Football Team.
While serving as Head Coach for the (U20) National Football Team under the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), it should be perceptibly recalled that the incomparable football rabbi with self-effacing equanimity, has been the face behind the prodigious success of rising football stars like Martin Hongla of Hellas Verona, Samuel Oum Gouet, of Kv Mechelen, Nouhou Tolo of Seattle Sounders, Olivier Mbaizo of Philadelphia Union, Duplexe Tchamba Bangou of Casa pia, and Kevin Soni of Adana Demirspor amongst others who have triumphantly joined the Senior National team.
Though appointed assistant coach for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon at a time of ferocious wrangling between the Cameroon Football Federation and the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, Cyprian Ashu, with a superfluous experience in football coaching both home and abroad coupled with his incredible temperament is known to have prominently contributed for the avalanche of successes recorded recently by the Senior National Team.
Before becoming a full-fledged football coach after a sound academic pedigree in football coaching with a UEFA License, Cyprain Ashu had equally been a locomotive on the football pitch while playing for FC Viersen 1997-1999,German 3 Liga, Borussia Monchengladbach 1994-1997 German Bundesliga 2, FC Dusseldorf 1992-1994 German Bundesliga 2, Unisport Bafang 1989-1991, Cameroon First
Division, Colombe Sangmelima 1987-, Cameroon 1 st Division, Aigle
Nkongsamba 1985- 1987 Cameroon 1 st Division, PWD Bamenda Cameroon 1 st Division, and the Cameroon Junior National Team 1987-1990.
The robust and athletic assistant Indomitable Lions coach with an indefatigable passion for football has crisscrossed many European, African and Cameroonian teams demonstrating his expertise in the spheres of coaching. He made his formidable coaching debut in England as assistant head coach for (U21) Leicester City FC 2015-2016, and proceeded as head coach of (U20) National Team under the Cameroon Football Federation, 2016-2018, head coach and director of football South Sudan National Football Association 2019-2021,head coach and
director of football( U15-U21 ) Djibouti National Football Federation 2023-2024, head coach MIRBAT S.C 2014-2015, head coach and director of academy ALNASR Dubai where one of the greatest football icons in the world CristianoRonaldo plays, and today assistant coach of the great Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
According to the foresighted and ingenious coach from Ossing village in Manyu Division, Southwest Region, football besides being a prestigious sporting discipline in the globalized world, is likewise coupled with financial gains at all levels.
“Besides investing in education, our parents should equally bear in mind that entertainment is becoming more cherished in the globalized world. Our parents should also endeavor to invest on soccer as a means of improving livelihood”,Cyprain Ashu explained.
