Cameroonians from all walks of life have celebrated the life and legacy of Pa George Mbarika Munya, the father of Prof. Victor Mbarika,the Founder of ICT University.
This was during a ceremony dubbed: Special ICT University Life Victory Celebration which took place yesterday at the Yaounde Conference Centre.
The historic and emotional event grouped hundreds of different personalities from within and without the country. Speaker after speaker used the event to remind the nation of the unique qualities of Pa George Mbarika.
The event was marked by traditional animation and merrymaking.
According to the Vice Chancellor of the ICT University, Prof Jean Emmanuel Pondi, the absence of Pa Mbarika George has created a vacuum at the ICT University.
Prof Pondi said, as pioneer representative of the President and treasurer, Pa George Mbarika was exemplary in his management style. He recalled fond memories of Pa George Mbarika and noted that he lived a dedicated and serious life.
For his part, former Vice Chancellor of ICT University, Prof Sammy Beban Chumbow, said Pa George Mbarika laid a formidable foundation on which the ICT University is building on today.
Meticulous and keen to detail was the man Pa George Mbarika, Prof Beban underscored.
As a pioneer private printer in the then Federal Republic of Cameroon, Pa George Mbarika made a great name that earned him global admiration.
My Dad Was My Hero
Paying glowing tribute to his late dad, the Founder and President of the ICT University, Prof Victor Mbarika, said, Pa Mbarika meant the world to him.
He noted that prayer and success were the keywords of Pa Mbarika. Prof Mbarika stressed that his dad’s death was one too heavy to bear.
In a strongly worded homage, Prof Mbarika said: “My Dad, My Hero. You taught me well. I will pass it down to generations. I will make you proud. I will defend and promote your legacy with my whole being and with the help of the Lord Himself. Reign In Paradise (RIP) and Heaven”.
Prof Victor Mbarika added the foundation he laid still has a lot of fruits to bear in the nearest future. He said “We have not yet even 10% of the fruits dad’s legacy will bear and we are still to savor the benefits of his investments over the years”.
Speaking about his personal relationship with his children, Prof Victor Mbarika attestrf that his father was there at all moments for his children to stand firm amidst the storms life have in store for them. He showed them the way to the cross of Jesus Christ who was crucified for their sins. He said ” He lived a good life and trained everyone of his children both biological and extended kids of what it means to fear God and to be successful.”
With all these achievements of his Dad Prof Victor Mbarika took a pledge to maintain the legacy of his father for as long as possible. He said ‘”We will do our best to maintain his legacy by not letting anything he built to die. We are planning to invest 5 billion FCFA in the economy of Cameroon be it in the rural sector, local development, Education and many other domains.”
About Pa George Mbarika
Pa George MunyaMbarika was born on December 10, 1934, to Pa Agwe Mbarika and Mama Frida Ambum, all of blessed memory.
He hailed from Zang-Tabi, a Village in Mbengwi, Momo Division of the North West Region. He was a respected elder in the Meta clan.
True to his exceptional qualities, he inspired the entire Meta clan regardless of family origin. His stewardship, mentorship, and remarkable accomplishments reflected his selflessness.
