The situation at the General Treasury of Yaoundé is under control after a truck from Hysacam, the company responsible for garbage collection, crashed into the institution’s barrier walls, stopping just at the main entrance.
The unfortunate incident which occurred during the night of October 24 to 25, 2024, prompted the Minister of finance to come out with a statement assuring civil servants about the security of their salaries.
«The Minister of Finance informs the national public that on the morning of October 25, 2024, a truck from the Cameroon Hygiene and Sanitation Company (HYSACAM), whose driver apparently lost control, veered off the road at the so-called Poste Centrale in Yaoundé. In its wild course, the vehicle broke through the perimeter wall of the General Treasury of Yaoundé I, as well as the main courtyard shed and the guard post», explains Louis Paul Motaze.
The incident occurred at a critical time when civil servants’ salaries are being processed. Louis Paul Motaze assured that the incident has not disrupted the activities of this treasury accounting office, whose various operations continue as normal.
«The Minister of Finance wishes to reassure users that this accident, which occurred during the salary payment period, has not disrupted the activities of this treasury accounting office, whose various operations continue as normal», adds the statement. The accident, which occurred during the night of October 24 to 25, 2024, resulted in two serious injuries: the driver and his assistant, who were admitted to the emergency room of the Yaoundé military hospital.
