Screening of documentary celebrating 41 years of Paul Biya’s rule holds in Bamenda
The screening of a documentary celebrating 41 years of Paul Biya’s rule held in Bamenda last Saturday at the relatively calm Upstation, despite threats from separatists.
The documentary film screening chaired by the interim head of the permanent delegation of the CPDM in the North West, Senator Regina Mundi, also had in attendance cabinet ministers and elites of North West extraction.
Fons of the region who had been instructed by the president of the North-West House of Chiefs, FonYakum Kevin Teuvih to mobilize their communities for the screening of the documentary were also present. It however, appeared that the separatist threat had prevented them from doing enough groundwork.
In a viral video released on Friday, October 25, the Ambazonia State Army (ASA), a separatist militia, declared that it had “banned” any political gatherings in Bamenda.
“This is the ASA, the fighters on the ground. We are here today with an announcement against October 26. No reckless gatherings in town for the RDPC’s politics. It will be at your own risk to gather,”a male voice can be heard saying in the video.
Bamenda was the ninth regional capital to host the documentary, titled “Paul Biya: un grand homme d’État au destin extraordinaire.”
