The Mayor of Muyuka, Landjou Djomogoue Lazare, has decried the non- payment of taxes to Muyuka Council by Source Du Pays. The mayor of Muyuka, was speaking on Friday 13th of December 2024, during the second ordinary session devoted to the examination, voting and adoption of the Muyuka Council 2025, annual budget.
Mayor Landjou Djomogoue Lazare while decrying the non-payment of taxes by the water company stated that since his mandate he has not collected any royalty from Source Du Pays. In attempt to get the water company pay its taxes to Muyuka , he recounted that he has visited the company head office based in Douala twice but yet nothing changed.
He explained:“ I went to the head office in Douala twice with documents. Maybe they have their good relations somewhere that they cannot pay taxes in Muyuka. Since the council has already taken their resolution I think we will do something”.
Hon Findi Stanley, in the course of the session frowned at the fact Source Du Pays hasn’t been paying its taxes to Muyuka council. It this light he encouraged the mayor to meet the SDO for measures to be taken to ensure that the institution pays their taxes. He said: “ I think the council has talked more about this in respect to Source Du Pays . It is high time the lord mayor you took dispositions alongside the council. It might interest you to know that one of the councils in Douala, almost sealed the office of Source Du Pays because of the fact that they are not paying taxes”.
It is worth noting that Source Du Pays is owing Muyuka Council about 25 million Fcfa for taxes.
The session equally saw the adoption of about 1 Billion Fcfa as budget for Muyuka, for 2025.
After the session, with regards to the impact of the socio political and economic crisis in Muyuka, the mayor of Muyuka assured that businesses are ongoing smoothly hitch free with life returned to normalcy.
He went further in affirming that there is no green zone in Muyuka.
The session wrapped up with the mayor taking firm commitments to ensure the payment of tax by Source Du Pays and ensuring the development of Muyuka.
