The newly accredited ambassador of Ivory coast to Cameroon, Filbert Kouassi GLEGLAUD, was received last Thursday 30 th January by the minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Alamine Ousmane Mey in his cabinet to discuss on how to strengthen economic ties between both countries.
For nearly half an hour, the Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development(MINEPAT) and his host revisited the bilateral relationship between Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire. The main focus of this meeting was on the strategic development approaches and visions of Presidents Paul BIYA and Alassane OUATTARA.
The Ivorian diplomat was pleased to note that these common development objectives, made through the Vision of Emergence by 2035 in Cameroon as well as the national development plan and the strategic plan respectively by 2025 and 2030 in Côte d’Ivoire, are based on identical pillars (agriculture, agro-industry, services), thus offering both countries the opportunity to draw comparative advantages. HE Filbert Kouassi GLEGLEAUD also welcomed the fact that economic actors in both countries are already implementing this opportunity in the areas of cashew nut and cocoa processing and in the financial sector.
Discussions between MINEPAT, Alamine OUSMANE MEY, and the Ivorian ambassador also focused on the prospects for intensifying bilateral cooperation between their two countries by increasing and diversifying trade so as to create more job opportunities.
