The Tubah Council convened its administrative and management account session yesterday, shedding light on the financial achievements of the 2024 fiscal year and outlining plans for the future. Held in Bambili, the session revealed a robust financial performance, with a notable budget surplus carried forward into 2025, alongside updates on ongoing development projects transforming the municipality.
According to the council’s financial report, the budget for the 2024 financial year was set at 789,897,513 CFA francs. However, revenue collection exceeded expectations, reaching an impressive 976,239,064 CFA francs. Total expenditure for the year amounted to 756,004,455 CFA francs, leaving a surplus of 220,234,609 CFA francs.
This surplus has been rolled over to bolster the council’s financial resources for 2025, signaling a promising start to the new fiscal year.
A significant contributor to the revenue increase was the HIMO project, a pilot initiative now in its second phase within the Tubah municipality. The project, which injected 120,000,000 CFA francs into the local economy, has not only boosted revenue but also provided employment opportunities for the youth. Currently, 50 young individuals have been employed under this initiative, contributing to the transformation of local infrastructure. One visible outcome of this phase is the ongoing redevelopment of the street stretching from CCAST to the Government School Junction, where local labor is being utilized to give the area a fresh, modern look.
During the session, Mayor Tanjong Martin took the opportunity to commend the progress made through the HIMO project and expressed gratitude to the international organizations supporting development efforts in Tubah. He highlighted another similar project currently underway in the municipality, underscoring the importance of external partnerships in driving local growth. Their support is helping reshape Tubah for the better.
The mayor also used the platform to rally the community and stakeholders, urging collective action to propel Tubah to greater heights. “I plead and pray that we all join hands to move Tubah forward,” he said, emphasizing unity as a cornerstone of the municipality’s development agenda.
The HIMO project’s success marks a significant milestone for Tubah, demonstrating the potential of labor-intensive initiatives to address unemployment while improving infrastructure. With the second phase well underway, residents are already witnessing tangible changes in their surroundings, fostering optimism about the municipality’s future.
As the Tubah Council looks ahead to 2025 with a healthy budget surplus, the focus remains on sustaining this momentum. The surplus of 220,234,609 CFA francs provides a financial cushion that could be channeled into further development projects, potentially expanding the scope of initiatives like HIMO. For now, the council’s leadership and residents alike are celebrating a year of fiscal discipline and progress, setting the stage for an ambitious year ahead.
The session concluded with a renewed commitment to transparency and community-driven development, as Tubah continues to position itself as a model of local governance and sustainable growth in the region.
