Frédéric Mounsi, a Cameroonian engineer in the Far North, was burned alive by enraged locals who mistook him for a Boko Haram member. He was a specialist in environmental engineering at the Institute of Geological and Mining Research. The tragedy occurred in Souledé-Roua in Mayo-Tsanaga, Far North Region, where he was conducting work as part of his academic research. Frédéric Mounsi was not the only target of the population. In a statement, Jean Bosco Avom Dang, prefect of the Mayo-Tsanaga Division, mentioned the tragic death of three people. According to the statement, these were unidentified and unknown individuals who arrived in the village of Souledé-Roua, in one of the districts of the Mayo-Tsanaga Division. The civil administrator highlighted the circumstances of the tragedy.
