Between two appointments, despite his daily occupations, Mr. Kaigama Ismaël, a young activist of the Mouvement pour la Renaissance du Cameroun, agreed to meet us in Yaoundé, the political capital of Cameroon, to comment on current issues related to Cameroonian youth. Read on.
Who is Mr. Kaigama Ismaël?
I am Kaigama Ismaël, an activist of the Mouvement pour la Renaissance du Cameroun (the MRC). I am a passionate and experienced young politician dedicated to empowering the next generation of civic and political leaders within my political party in the MRC Centre I Regional Federation. Originally from the Adamaoua and Far North regions, I got involved in politics to contribute to the change my country needs.
As a Member of the National Mediation and Arbitration Committee of the party, Regional Secretary Delegate in charge of social issues, youth, and the world of work, and Regional Coordinator J-MRC of Centre I, I am convinced that young people must play a key role in building the future of Cameroon. That is why I am disappointed by President Paul Biya’s projects for the youth, which are not only rare but often never come to fruition.
What is your analysis of Mr. Paul Biya’s projects for the youth?
In my opinion, President Biya’s projects for the youth are insufficient and do not meet the real needs of young Cameroonians. Mr. Biya’s projects have been criticized for their slow execution, lack of transparency, and inability to address the urgent needs of the population. Many projects have been announced, such as the three-year youth plan, but their impact on the daily lives of Cameroonians is almost nil.
Young people need job opportunities, education, and training to acquire the skills necessary to succeed in life. However, the current projects do not provide these opportunities effectively.
What is your message to the Cameroonian youth?
My message to the Cameroonian youth is simple: you have the power to change your future and that of your country. A political party offers you an alternative: it is the MRC that places youth at the center of its concerns. Youth have a prominent place within the MRC. We, as young people, must mobilize and unite around this party, support it to create a movement of change that will allow us to build a fairer and more prosperous Cameroon for all.
What is your motivation for the 2025 presidential campaign?
Regarding the 2025 presidential campaign, my motivation is simple: I want to contribute to creating a bright future for young Cameroonians. And that by playing a crucial role in mobilizing the youth and women for a victorious campaign of Prof. Maurice KAMTO in the next Presidential election.
I am convinced that we need his leadership, which listens to the needs of the youth and works for their well-being. Candidate Kamto is ready to work with all young people to create a program that meets their needs and gives them the opportunity to succeed in life.
In this regard, I would like to encourage young people to register massively on the electoral lists, to vote, and to monitor their vote. It is important that young people exercise their democratic right to choose the new leaders who represent them. The MRC offers them an array of leaders of all categories ready to serve our beautiful and soon-to-be prosperous nation faithfully and effectively under the high leadership of Prof. Maurice KAMTO.
