Léon Theillier ONANA, the CPDM councilor from Monatele who is persecuted for asking President Paul Biya not to seek another mandate, has disclosed that the CPDM National President is a prisoner of the monsters he himself created.
In an interview with Le Courrier du Cameroun, he said Cameroon was on the brink of collapse because of a leadership void now filled by self-seeking collaborators of President Biya who keep him in a sort of captivity that is not openly acknowledged.
“43 years of unshared power. 43 years of inertia. The RDPC, mired in its certainties, must face the facts: even robots need maintenance. Even God took a day off! Like a Cameroon navigating blindly, the party moves forward without direction, held captive by a caste clinging to its privileges. Meanwhile, the people suffocate, my generation gets lost in corridors where we are told what to do, where even the trash bins to be emptied are designated. ‘The future belongs to you,’ they say. An old lie,” he regretted.
LEON Onana expressed disappointment that Cameroonian youths have great admiration for the rise of youthful leaders like Macron in France and Faye in Senegal but fear to take the bull by the horns, while opposition party leaders are busy negotiating with the ruling party.
“Enough! My eyes have seen the world, I have seen change ignite peoples. The fire of freedom is a spark that sets the whole savannah ablaze. We admire the young Senegalese, the fervor of Macron, the dynamism of Trudeau. And here? Our youth, our future, are relegated to the background, forbidden to serve their nation. The opposition? It has dissolved into compromise”, Onana declared.
He then vowed to ensure that Cameroon does not sink further:
“My cry is that of a republican who refuses to see his country sink. It is time for the elders to pass the torch. It is time to let the youth build the future. The shipwreck is near. There is still time to act,” concluded the CPDM-elected official.
