‘Hide-and-Seek’

hide-and-seek in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, has been arrested”, a statement from an influential
government official in Buea told ‘The Horizon newspaper. Quizzed on the state of security in the
region, he said, “the security ecosystem in the entire South West region is vibrant and under
control”.
“In fact, we’re pleased to inform Cameroonians that the security forces are doing an excellent job,
eliminating one-by-one, sniffing one-by-one Ambazonia activists in their hideouts”. “Those of
them abroad, like Eshua Mbua, are being arrested and will be deported to face justice at home”
During its routine weekly ‘state of security meetings’ held in Buea, the regional capital of the
South West, both administrative and security officials were elated that Ambazonia activists who
embarked on futile hide-and-seek abroad ‘were gradually being identified and arrested’.

senior gendarmerie officer said in a brief statement to the press immediately after the security
meeting.
“We’re very happy for the news”, he reiterated. “We’re very happy and waiting for the government
of USA to send Eshua Mbua to Cameroon to face justice”.
“The government in Yaoundé is working in synergy with multiple agencies for this fugitive to be
deported back home to face charges for atrocities against the state and people of Cameroon”, he
said smiling.
“We thought he was going to stop his activism against the government of Cameroon after escaping
to the USA. However, he decided to continue. We’re very happy and waiting for the government
of USA to send Eshua Mbua to Cameroon to face justice”.
Cameroon goes to polls
In October this year, Cameroon goes to the polls for a presidential election. According to the
election’s management organization, Elections Cameroon, some 6.7 million Cameroonians very
registered, ready to exercise their civic duties of choosing the next president.
Indeed, many Cameroonians love their country and will want to vote. Analysts say the security
situation is under control especially as government has pushed for inclusive dialogue again
regardless of the election’s outcome.
“October’s election could, therefore, be crucial for peace efforts in the country”, the Buea security
meeting has emphasized.
However, separatist activists like Eshua Mbua, who the government has described as terrorists,
want to disrupt the vote.
“There’s no room to disrupt the presidential election could”, security officials in Buea have
warned.
Many young men suspected of being separatists have been detained in prisons, according to
Human Rights Watch. Cameroon’s international partners have highlighted the need to strengthen
governance and expedite decentralisation so the anglophone regions benefit from the autonomy
‘special status’ granted them
