A priest known to Cameroonian viewers for his stances on social and political issues, Étienne Bakaba, predicts the absence of Paul Biya among the candidates in the presidential election scheduled for next October.
A journalist from the 46th class of the Advanced School of Mass Communication (Esstic), Étienne Bakaba asserts that “President Paul Biya will not be a candidate in 2025. This should be noted.”
Author of several religious songs known to the general public, priest Étienne Bakaba advises potential candidates and militants of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (Rdpc) to prepare their campaign strategy while ignoring the candidacy of the current Cameroonian head of state, Paul Biya.
The outspoken priest declared, “Start preparing for an election without President Paul Biya! Whether you are from the opposition or the ruling party, those who do not prepare for the election in this way will be very surprised.”
Father Étienne Bakaba’s statement follows those of the bishops of the Roman Catholic Church in Cameroon, who have called on Paul Biya to step down after 43 years in power.
