    May 30, 2025 will be remembered as a momentous day in the annals of Bametogoung village, located in the Babadjou Sub Division. The Public Primary School of Bametogoung marked the end of the school year with a grand ceremony, which also featured the inauguration of two brand-new classrooms. The event was attended by the D.O of Babadjou and the Mayor, highlighting the importance of education in the community’s development.

    *”Useful School” Programme*

    The closing ceremony was part of the innovative educational programme entitled “Useful School,” designed to strengthen students’ attachment to school, motivation to learn, and ability to express themselves confidently in society. The programme aims to equip students with essential skills in reading, writing, and calculation, while encouraging parents to take a more active role in monitoring their children’s education.

    *Diverse activities*

    To achieve its objectives, the “Useful School” programme organized a range of activities, including

    – *Sports Competitions*: Fostering teamwork and healthy competition among students;

    – *Cultural Shows*: Celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the community;

    – *Workshops*: Providing students with hands-on experience in making art objects, storytelling, and mathematics;

    – *Science Week*: Encouraging curiosity and interest in science and technology; and

    – *Clean Student Competition*: Promoting environmental awareness and cleanliness.

    *Feast of Excellence*

    The Feast of Excellence was a highlight of the ceremony, recognizing students’ achievements and promoting emulation. This event also served as a platform to strengthen ties between the school, families, and education partners.

    *Inauguration of new classrooms*

    The inauguration of the new block of two classrooms, complete with a double compartment serving as the headmaster’s office, marked a significant milestone in the school’s development. This modern infrastructure addresses the need for expanded school reception capacities, providing a better learning environment for students.

    *Speeches and testimonials*

    In her speech, Colonel Mayor Gisèle Tsangue welcomed the commitment of all those who contributed to the success of the event. She listened attentively to the complaints expressed by the school’s headmaster and village chief, taking the opportunity to review the achievements made in Bametogoung since 2020, particularly in education.

    *Synergy between stakeholders*

    The presence of administrative and municipal authorities at the ceremony underscores the importance given to education as a lever for local development. The Bametogoung Public School has established itself as a model of synergy between educational institutions, local authorities, community, and partners.

    By working together, these stakeholders can create a supportive environment that fosters students’ growth and development, ultimately contributing to the community’s progress. The success of the “Useful School” programme and the inauguration of the new classrooms demonstrate the positive impact of collaboration and investment in education.
