MTN Cameroon, in collaboration with Huawei and other partners, has embarked on an ambitious project to construct 12 modern digital centers across the country. This initiative is part of the MTN group’s annual staff volunteer program, “21 Days of Y’ello Care,” which is now in its 18th edition.

    *A Commitment to Digital Inclusion*

The program aims to promote digital inclusion and create shared value by providing sustainable solutions to communities. On June 14, 2025, MTN Cameroon staff, along with their partners, deployed to 12 sites nationwide to prepare for the construction of these digital centers. The sites were selected on June 3, 2025, during the official launch ceremony of the 21 Days of Y’ello Care 2025.

    *Community Engagement*

In Douala, the staff of MTN Cameroon mobilized at the Emilie Saker College in Akwa Bonamouti, a confessional secondary education establishment with nearly 70 years of history. The team worked tirelessly to prepare the site for the construction of a modern digital center, which will serve as a hub for students and the local community to access quality education and digital resources.

    *Quotes from Key Stakeholders*

    – “In almost 70 years of life, this is the first time that I have seen an organization offering such significant donations for the education of our children. I strongly encourage them to continue on this path, in order to permanently improve education in our communities,” said Ngiye Silo, Village Chief Bonasame Moulobe.

    – “It is an honor to contribute to the inauguration of this digital center, which represents a major advance for Cameroonian youth. With the support of our partners, we have united our forces to prepare this place which, tomorrow, will open new perspectives in future generations,” said Swithurn Mwenifumbo, Chief Technology and Information Systems Officer, MTN Cameroon.

    – “Huawei is proud to join MTN once again as part of the Y’ello Care program. This year, we have invested more than 20 million FCFA to support this meaningful initiative. We are convinced that our partnership with MTN will continue to strengthen in the coming years,” said Liu Liqi, Account Manager at Huawei.

*Employee Volunteer Programs: A Win-Win for Companies and Communities*

Employee volunteer programs like the “21 Days of Y’ello Care” initiative not only benefit the community but also have a positive impact on employee engagement and company reputation. By participating in such programs, employees can develop new skills, build relationships, and contribute to meaningful causes ¹.

*About MTN Cameroon’s Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives*

MTN Cameroon is committed to making a positive impact in the communities it serves. Through its corporate social responsibility initiatives, the company aims to promote digital inclusion, education, and economic development. The “21 Days of Y’ello Care” program is just one example of the company’s efforts to give back to the community.
